The new SARscape version 4.1 is available now. It contains the following improvements:

SARscape & ENVI

  • SARscapeŽ 4.1 fully supports ENVI 4.5.
  • The SARscapeŽ main menu was moved beside the ENVIŽ File menu.
  • New handling of the cartographic systems to improve the compatibility with the ENVI cartography.
  • Improved compatibility of the ENVI vector format (.evf) within the SARscapeŽ functionalities.
  • Possibility to set the automatic generation of any processing result in Tiff format.
  • New error message handling.
  • Improved installation procedure.
  • Improved interface, in particular for Interferometry and ScanSAR Interferometry modules.
  • Improved Batch processing function.

SARscape & ArcView

  • The SARscapeŽ 4.1 release will not include the installation under ArcView!

SARscape Help

  • Improved help documentation and introduction of a Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ) section relevant to each different SARscape module.
  • Single help – covering the function of all modules - is provided instead of separate, module-related, help documents.
  • New Test Data Sets freely distributed to SARscapeŽ users.
  • Updated SAR Guide Book.

New Sensors

  • Cosmo SkyMed data (SCS, DGM, GEC and GTC formats) are fully supported.
  • E-SAR airborne data are supported.
  • Radarsat-2 data (SLC, SGF, SCN, SGC, SSG, SPG, SGX and SCW formats) are fully supported.

Data Improvements

  • Complete support for TerraSAR-X-1 data in COSAR and Tiff format.
  • Level 1.0 (i.e. RAW products) ALOS PALSAR data, generated by ERSDAC, are fully supported as either standard frame or long-strip products.
  • Algorithm upgrade (e.g. phase unwrapping, synthetic phase generation) aimed at supporting data sets of large size such as PALSAR, Cosmo SkyMed and TerraSAR-X.
  • Specific support for squinted geometry products (non-zero Doppler data). The combined use of zero and non-zero Doppler data in the same processing stack (e.g. same interferometric pair) is also supported.
  • ERS precise orbits, generated by DLR, are supported. They can now be ingested also during the data import.
  • SRTM-3 version 4 Digital Elevation Model supported.
  • RAMP (Antarctic area) Digital Elevation Model supported.

Basic Module

  • DEM dependant co-registration, of particular interest for very-high resolution data.
  • Data acquired with different incidence angles can be automatically co-registered using a reference Digital Elevation Model.
  • New Tool for the automatic extraction of the common area from a multi-temporal geocoded data series.
  • Improved Segmentation algorithms.

Interferometry Module

  • New Interferometry module Tool to co-register interferometric products coming from different data pairs.
  • DEM-dependant co-registration, of particular interest for very-high resolution data.
  • Co-registered products are generated also in SLC format.
  • Improved synthetic phase generation.
  • Ad-hoc interferometric processing for Spot-light data.
  • Data pairs, made of one ASAR and one ERS acquisition, are supported.
  • Data coming from single and multi-polarisation acquisitions can be used in the same pair.

ScanSAR Module

  • Possibility to process extracts from standard frames.
  • Upgraded ASAR WS Synchronisation tool.

Persistent Scatterers Module

  • An improved version is under testing; it is scheduled for December 2008.
